Driving Sensation

Citroen's C3 has been given a significant performance boost via a 1.6-litre engine and the sequential-style SensoDrive gearbox.
The C3 SensoDrive -- as the new model's been called -- now boasts 83kW from the 1.6-litre engine. According to Citroen, up to five seconds has been lopped from the 1.4-litre car's 0-100kmh time and top speed is 192kmh.
Yet, Citroen says, the bigger-engined C3's 8.0L/100km around-town fuel consumption is better than that of the 1.4-litre version and the 6.2 L/100km combined figures are identical. Emissions figures are identical, too.
Citroen also says that the new SensoDrive gearbox contributes to the performance/consumption/emissions story, partly because it doesn't use a torque converter.
Technically, it's a sequential manual gearbox. In practice, it's a manual gearbox with a normal clutch that is operated electronically, either at the driver's command or, when he or she pushes a button on the centre console, automatically.
The gearbox is similar to that used in the Citroen Xsara WRC rally cars. But team drivers Carlos Sainz, Colin McRae and Sebastian Loeb obviously don't have the option of hitting the automatic button that's in the C3.
Apart from the new engine and SensoDrive 'box, the C3 SensoDrive brings with it an impressive list of standard equipment, including climate control air-conditioning with pollen filter, four airbags, ABS brakes with EBA and EBD, power windows and mirrors, remote central locking, front centre arm rests, six-speaker CD player, rain sensing wipers, automatic wipers, trip computer and front and rear fog lights.
Tapi auto headlights dia sedikit menyakitkan hati. Gelap sikit menyala-gelap sikit menyala. Dah pukul lapan pagi kat atas jalan pun menyala.
Auto mode sedikit lembab, especially first gear. Tapi kalau dah switch to manual, pick-up consider ok. Tapi penggunaan auto dalam town adalah sangat best dan praktikal. Kaki kiri rasa macam nak letak atas dashboard.
Kawan aku yang pakai Stream selespeed kata best sebab kereta ni 5 speed, tak macam dia 4 speed jek.
Minyak memanglah save kalau pakai kereta ni. Tak macam ZX, mentedarah tak ingat donia. Projek seterusnya membaik pulih ZX. Engine dah terlampau kasar bunyi. Samada nak buat overhaul balik atau terus masukkan jer 16V dalam tu.
Semalam baru dapat test jalan jauh. Pergi banting, jauh gilak, rasa macam bergadai nyawa gi kenduri kat sana. Bila guna manual untuk overtake, terasa sangat teruja.
